It's not over, it has merely gone through the first stage of what we call the Vent Mob Topic-Shift Phenomenon, or VMTSP. The first stage of the VMTSP is an innocent mention of a related subject that then becomes the central focus of the thread. This is what has happened to this thread.

Of course, now that I have posted something entirely unrelated to any prior topics, the second stage of the VMTSP is complete and we will shortly be entering the third and final stage, which is a harem of facepalm pictures and I-can-break-these-cuffs videos.

The rare fourth stage of the VMTSP can only take place in a thread if certain criteria are met, for example the presence of both Syff and Chronic. This, the fourth stage, is a barrage of swearing and flaming, which eventually culminates in the locking of the thread or a sudden reversal to stage three.

Stage three may also be attained without the necessity of stages one or two - this occurs when a particularly eagle-eyed member of the community sees the thread rapidly approaching stage one and attempts to stop it. But that's a different ball game.
