I knew. In fact the reason I know this is I remember playing Duke Nukem and 3D Realms decided to add a little joke in it.

In one part, an earthquake occurs. Duke then adds the quip "I ain't afraid of no quake." This was actually a reference to Quake coming out around the same time as Duke Nukem. Of course, 3D Realms (which was called Apogee Games back in 1990) produced many of id Software's games such as Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, and Spear of Destiny. However, they broke off from them, made their own games, and ended up changing their names to 3D Realms. Rise of the Triad was originally going to be a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D with an upgraded engine. Apogee made Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold in 1993, but it was unable to compete with Doom.
