Only thing is, if something as huge as a small moon was to head for earth we'd know about it years beforehand, and come up with a defense. Also, if it did happen, it's not for a few hundred years and by then the real Captain Kirk would be in charge of earth's star fleet. So I aint so worried. Lovecraftian themes save the day again >.> Besides, this asteroid (Apophis) is scheduled for a 1 in 450,000 chance at impact during 2036. To play devil's advocate and speak on behalf of people who believe this shit - humanity will already be extinct by 2036 (think 2012) so I really don't know what you're all worried about >.> And now that I think about it, shouldn't we have all been sucked very rapidly towards Switzerland last year?  , it only works in cartoons...There is a way to divert the path of a meteor slightly by placing a shuttle near the meteor and using the gravitational pull from the shuttle to move it's path ever so slightly and miss the earth.
